My name is Carley. I'm a Japanophile, language learner, teacher, translator, and interpreter. Simply put, I've studied Japan, Japanese Language and it's unique culture since the age of six--which means that the past 17 years of my life have been spent learning everything I can about this one of a kind country. I have no doubt that the rest of my life will be spent learning even more.
I've held quite a few blogs in the past, which, for many reasons, were abandoned. Most of the problem is, I can't focus on just one subject relating to Japan--I want to write about the language, the music, the culture, the festivals, the people, the geography, the politics, everything. It's a pretty tall order, and organization will be key. Hopefully, finally, I can call this blog home, to all of the interesting news, facts, and crazy things I'd like to share.
If you are looking to learn Japanese, I have posted some links--and will continue to update the links--listed at the tab at the top of the page. I will be adding another page with tourist info, for those looking to plan a trip to Japan.
As for myself, my professional website is here, and while I currently reside in the greater Washington D.C. area, I will be moving to Tokyo in late February/early March 2014, working as a copy editor/translator for a large company in Ginza. (There will be QUITE a post on Ginza later--it's my favorite neighborhood of Tokyo!)
Here's hoping that you learn something, keep up with my life later, when I move abroad, and enjoy your stay here at 'Utterly Japan.'
